Get ready, bargain hunters! Yorke Peninsula is gearing up for Australia’s biggest community treasure hunt as the Garage Sale Trail returns this weekend.
Mark your calendars for 9-10 and 16-17 November, when Yorke Peninsula will come alive with garage sales.
From vintage purses and vinyl records to everyday essentials and unique collectibles, there will be something for every taste and budget.
The Garage Sale Trail promises more than just a shopping spree—it’s Australia’s ultimate secondhand shopping event, dedicated to reusing and reducing waste.
With nearly 6,000 garage sales registered nationwide, this year’s event is projected to save an astounding 2.5 million kilograms of pre-loved items from ending up in landfill.
“More than 4,000 items will find new homes from local garages, storage rooms, and cupboards,” Yorke Peninsula Council Mayor Darren Braund said.
“This event is a win for both your wallet and the planet.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with others while knowing that every dollar you spend goes right back into our community.”
The event is powered by a growing movement of reuse and recycling, with sellers making an average of $457 from their sales.
With 3 million items set to go on sale during the weekends, there’s never been a better time to join in.
Don’t miss out on the chance to clear out, cash in, and help the environment!

Still time to register a sale
Yorke Peninsula Council is calling on residents to register for the Garage Sale Trail.
With two big weekends—9-10 and 16-17 November—still ahead, there’s plenty of time for locals to register their own garage sale for free and join thousands participating across Australia.
Mayor Darren Braund encouraged the community to get involved, highlighting the benefits of the Garage Sale Trail, which allows residents to declutter, earn some extra cash, and support sustainability efforts.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for residents to clear out unwanted items, earn a little extra, and support waste reduction all at once,” Mr Braund said.
“The Garage Sale Trail makes it easy, with free registration, helpful tips, and promotional resources for anyone interested in hosting a sale.”
Local residents have the flexibility to participate on one day or extend their sale across both weekends, making it easy for everyone to get involved.
