The secret is out that Yorke Peninsula is home to some of South Australia’s most pristine beaches, with an increasing number of people visiting each year and many accessing the coastline via off-road vehicles.

Unfortunately, the impacts include pollution, trampled vegetation and damage to dune systems and native animal habitats. No one wants to see our beaches and dunes harmed beyond repair, so it’s time to work together to protect this fragile coastline.

The draft Strategy was developed with input from consultation sessions held with stakeholders, local councils, Narungga First Nations organisations, local progress associations, 4WD representatives and the tourism sector. It’s not intended to remove people’s access to beaches. Instead, it aims to protect our delicate coastal areas while ensuring we can continue to enjoy them responsibly.

This is your chance have your say on shaping the future of our coastline by completing the survey, which is available online or in person at local council offices.

All feedback received will be considered as part of the development of the final strategy, which is expected to be finalised by mid-2025. By working together, we can protect our coastline, maintain its beauty and continue enjoying it for years to come.
