The purpose of the Art Exhibition Working Party is to achieve a high quality Art Exhibition on the Yorke Peninsula. The Art Exhibition is recognised as a regular cultural event of excellence on Yorke Peninsula.
Yorke Peninsula Art Exhibition is a biennial event that runs in even years in the Easter break (i.e. 2012, 2014, 2016, etc.). It began in 1998 when late Councillor, Verna Lock suggested that the District Council of Yorke Peninsula should sponsor a major cultural event for the benefit for local artists, residents and visitors. As a result, the inaugural Yorke Peninsula Art Exhibition was opened in October 1999 by the then Governor, Sir Eric Neal.
