Agri-tourim has been identified as an industry primed for massive growth, and this represents a significant opportunity for the Yorke Peninsula region.
Locals who have agri-tourism ventures, ideas for start-ups, or who want to learn more, are urged to register for an upcoming free workshop to be held at Sunny Hill Distillery, Arthurton, 10am to 3pm Wednesday, 19 June.
The event will feature a distillery tour and tasting followed by an informative presentation by special guest speaker Susan Lee from Clear Vision Consulting, author of Booked Out! How to Start and Grow a Successful Regional Tourism Business.
Local agri-tourism operator Meg Honner will share her story, and Yorke Peninsula Tourism Regional Tourism Manager Jess Greatwich will discuss the importance of the agri-tourism sector to the local economy.
“Agri-tourism and other farm-based side businesses can add value to farming enterprises and provide consistent secondary income,” Yorke Peninsula Council Manager Economic Development and Business Sustainability Nick Perry said.
“Such ventures also enhance the appeal of a district for tourists, increasing visitor spend and benefiting the wider economy.
“There is strong potential for agri-tourism on Yorke Peninsula, where agriculture and tourism are our two biggest industries, and this is demonstrated in the recently released South Australian Agritourism Sector Plan 2025.”
The workshop is an initiative of Yorke Peninsula Council in partnership with Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North, and Yorke Peninsula Tourism.
