Yorke Peninsula Council is investing in projects that improve accessibility, mobility and social inclusion across the region, with four new initiatives to be delivered following recommendations from Council’s Access Advisory Working Party.

Council has committed a total of $9288.10 from the Working Party’s annual $25,000 budget towards projects in Minlaton, Port Vincent and Stansbury.

The projects include the installation of four pedestrian ramps on Fourth Street, Minlaton, as well as improved line marking and signage for accessible parking spaces in Port Vincent and Stansbury.

Funding will also be used to provide new seating and a table along the Stansbury foreshore on Anzac Parade, creating a more accessible and welcoming space for people of all abilities.

The Access Advisory Working Party meets regularly to identify and consider projects that can make a positive difference to accessibility and social inclusion within Yorke Peninsula communities.

Council encourages community members to put forward ideas for projects that could improve access and mobility in their local area.

Ideas could include accessible seating and tables, new or upgraded ramps, handrails at public buildings and gathering spaces, and improvements to pathways and access points.

Community members with an idea are encouraged to contact their local Progress Association and ask them to submit the project for consideration by the Access Advisory Working Party.

The projects:

• Minlaton: $5,720 for four pedestrian ramps on Fourth Street.
• Port Vincent: $869.55 for line marking and signage for the accessible carpark on Main Street.
• Stansbury: $1,829 for seating and a table along the Anzac Parade foreshore.
• Stansbury: $869.55 for line marking and signage for the accessible carpark on St Vincent Street.
