Time is running out for artists to register their work for the 2025 GROUNDED YP Art Festival exhibitions, with entries closing midnight 31 July.
The exhibitions are a major feature of the festival, which returns bigger than ever from August 15-24.
All entries are available for sale at a price chosen by the artist (minimum $100) and each category (Fine Art, Photography and Sculpture) offers a first prize of $3000, second prize of $1500 and third prize of $750.
Additional prizes include the $1500 First Nations Open Category award and the $1500 Verna Lock Memorial Award, an acquisitive prize open to painters living within the Yorke Peninsula Council area.
This year’s fine art exhibition will be held at the Maitland Town Hall, while the Edithburgh Institute will showcase the sculpture and photography exhibitions.
In 2023, the exhibitions attracted more than 1000 visitors across the host venues — and 2025 is set to build on that success.
“GROUNDED has quickly become one of our region’s most anticipated cultural events,” Acting Mayor Richard Carruthers said.
“It’s not just about incredible art on display, it’s about celebrating and investing in local creativity.
“The festival provides real economic benefit to artists and our broader community, and we can’t wait to see what talent this year brings.”
Entry is $20 per artwork, with a maximum of three entries per artist.
Winners will be announced at the festival’s official opening, to be held at Maitland Town Hall from 5.30pm on Friday, 15 August.
