YorKON Games Convention is excited to welcome Wallaroo-based game developer Orlando Mee to this year’s event, giving attendees the chance to experience a unique blend of retro gaming and contemporary digital art.
Orlando will showcase an early version of his retro-inspired game Yakshini Lokam across Friday and Saturday, April 17 and 18.
Yakshini Lokam is a cosy, turn-based tactics game designed for Game Boy Color, supported by Screen Australia.
Set within an enchanted world of mythical creatures, the game follows a Hyderabad family who draw on classic Indian board game mechanics in their quest to escape.
His display promises to be a highlight of the convention, presented in an immersive space styled as a cosy 1990s family gaming area, inviting visitors to step back in time while engaging with a brand-new interactive experience.

A multimedia artist and indie game developer, Orlando Mee’s practice spans video, sculptural assemblage and interactive installation.
Through his studio Soft Magnets, Orlando creates complex, concept-driven digital worlds that remain engaging for a broad audience.
YorKON Games Convention continues to celebrate creativity, innovation and community, with Orlando Mee’s involvement showcasing the depth of local talent emerging from the Yorke Peninsula region.
