Yorke Peninsula Council has hosted public workshops in Marion Bay, Corny Point, Edithburgh and Stansbury as it progresses phase one of its Township Activation initiative.
More than 80 people attended the workshops to help shape the future of their towns, identifying what they wanted improved and ways to achieve priority projects.
The results will be supplemented by surveys – available online and hard copy in each town – resulting in a list of top priority projects for each participating town.
The workshops were led by Louise Burford from Engage 360 and supported by Regional Development Australia Yorke-Mid North.

“We had fantastic engagement at each workshop and we thank everyone who participated,” Economic Development and Tourism Officer Brooke Liebelt said.
“The aim of this initiative is to ensure Council hears firsthand from our local communities exactly what is important to them and which projects should be prioritised.
“Council will then work proactively with each town to investigate how to progress those projects, whether they require funding from the town Progress Associations, from Council, from grants, or just need our joint advocacy.”
Mrs Liebelt said the four towns in phase one would work as an effective trial for a Township Activation Plan before more towns were included.
“We very much intend to roll Township Activation out to more towns and are working hard behind the scenes to secure funding for this,” she said.
“Until then we look forward to further work with Marion Bay, Corny Point, Edithburgh and Stansbury to finalise our first four towns in a Township Activation Plan.”
The four town surveys remain open until 5pm on Monday 13 October.
