Yorke Peninsula Council in conjunction with Yorke Paving have recently completed new paving on the Robert Street footpath between Moonta Road and Junction Road.
The extensive new footpath was completed over a period of three weeks at a cost of $40,000.
To complete the makeover, YP Health Advisory Council has also been involved in the revamping of the front entrance and gardens.
Cr. Tania Stock was delighted with the new footpath commenting “As well as making a very aesthetic difference to Maitland, everyone accessing the hospital and health centre or commuting from the village, has an even surface to walk or wheel on.”
Maitland Hospital Executive Officer, Tanya Haynes said that the key benefits of the footpath upgrade to the approximately 100 people who use it each day, is that it will give safer access to our hospital for our community.”
“The new footpath has improved access to the hospital with our disability and aged clients who are using aids such as walkers, wheelchairs and walking sticks. The upgrade ties in nicely with the new front garden area that the YP Health Advisory Council have been heavily involved with.”
