Council is exploring the opportunity to produce a Yorke Peninsula-themed Monopoly board game and is seeking expressions of interest from local retailers who may be interested in stocking and selling the game.

The proposed game would showcase Yorke Peninsula’s communities, landmarks, iconic local attractions and regional identity, providing a unique product that celebrates the region and promotes it to both visitors and residents.

Before proceeding with the project, Council is seeking expressions of interest from local retailers to help assess the level of local interest and determine whether there is sufficient demand to support production.

The proposed initial production run is approximately 1,500 games.

Council is seeking expressions of interest representing a combined potential order quantity of 750 games, equivalent to 50 per cent of the proposed production run.

The anticipated wholesale purchase price is $35.40 per game, including GST, with a recommended retail price of $79.95. Participating retailers would retain any margin above the wholesale purchase price.

Retailers are invited to indicate the quantity of games they believe they would be prepared to purchase if the project proceeds.

Mayor Kylie Gray said the proposed game presented a strong opportunity to promote Yorke Peninsula, celebrate its unique communities and attractions, and create an additional product that could deliver benefits for local businesses.

“A Yorke Peninsula Monopoly game would be a fantastic way to showcase our communities, attractions and local identity,” she said.

“A real Community Chest opportunity for the region.

Mayor Gray said the project had the potential to become a valuable promotional and tourism initiative for Yorke Peninsula, with strong local business support key to making it happen.

“We are looking to our local businesses to get behind this opportunity and register their interest,” she said.

“This is more than just a game; it is an opportunity to put our towns, businesses and attractions in front of a much wider audience and create another way to promote everything that makes Yorke Peninsula worth discovering.

“Importantly, we see this unique version of Monopoly making its way into the homes of our residents, as gifts for friends and family who live outside the region, and potentially even overseas.

“Imagine the reach that could create for Yorke Peninsula.

“There really is no limit to how far this unique form of tourism promotion could travel.

“We’re not taking a Chance on this; we need our local businesses to show us there is the support and demand to make it happen.

“So, local businesses, it’s time to pass GO and get on board.”

Council emphasises that the expression of interest is not a commitment to purchase. It is simply an indication of the quantity a business may be interested in ordering should the Yorke Peninsula Monopoly Board Game proceed to production.

Local retailers interested in participating are encouraged to submit an expression of interest and indicate the approximate number of games they may be prepared to purchase.
