Permits can be initially obtained by contacting the local Council office to obtain a Schedule 9 Burning Permit for the season .This permit only allows the burning of stubble, grassland and chaff piles, it does not allow the burning of any tree trimmings.
Once a permit has been obtained notification needs to be made to Council before the commencement of the fire being lit and in accordance to the Schedule 9 Burning Permit conditions.Permit holders are able to inform council of their intended burn by logging onto Councils web site at www.yorke.sa.gov.au and register their intended burn off.The online notification form will be available during the hours of 5:00pm through to 12:00 noon on the day of the intended burn off. Council can also be notified of the burn off by ringing any Council office before 12 noon on the day of the intended burn off. The online form will be unavailable for days when burning is not permitted.
To notify Council of the intended burn off online, simply click on the "Burn-off Online" button located on the right of the Home screen and complete the online form. Please take the time to read the form and associated information pages to ensure you are meeting all your conditional burning requirements.
Council Officers will conduct random inspections of burn offs in the area. If a breach of permit conditions is observed, offenders may receive a $315 Expiation notice for the breach and the permit may be cancelled.
