Yorke Peninsula Council is encouraging people to nominate locals making outstanding contributions for the 2026 Citizen of the Year Awards.
The awards, presented by the Australia Day Council of South Australia and administered by Council, recognise individuals and organisations who have gone above and beyond for the community.
Yorke Peninsula Council Mayor Kylie Gray encouraged people to nominate anyone they think could be worthy of an award.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have people throughout Yorke Peninsula who go above and beyond to support our community, and this is the perfect way to show our appreciation for their commitment,” Mayor Gray said.
“These individuals contribute for the benefit of others, not for accolades, so this is a small way we can recognise their efforts and positive impact.
“We all know someone whose community is better because they are part of it. These are the people who would make inspiring candidates for our Citizen of the Year or Young Citizen of the Year (under 30).
“You can also nominate for Community Event of the Year, or the Award for Active Citizenship — recognising an individual or group who has delivered outstanding work on a project during the past calendar year.”
Nominations for the 2025 Citizen of the Year Awards are open until 16 November 2025.
