Yorke Peninsula Council has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening local businesses through a free social media workshop.
Yorke Peninsula Council, in partnership with Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North and Yorke Peninsula Tourism, invited local businesses to a hands-on workshop in Minlaton on Monday, 25 July.
The workshop was hosted by Vanessa Dingle from Vee Supreme Digital Marketing Services.
Fifteen businesses attended either the basic or advanced session to help them effectively use social channels to increase their visibility online.
The businesses were also offered a 30-minute one-on-one follow up.

“In a predominately digital world, it’s important for businesses to be savvy on social media,” Mayor Darren Braund said.
“There were more than 21 million active social users in Australia (as of February 2022) so it’s important for business to have an online presence to promote themselves.
“Council is committed to supporting economic growth and this workshop is just one of the ways Council is making a positive impact in the business community.”
Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North’s Jo-Anne Buchanan said more businesses have an online presence so it’s important to optimise how a business is presented online, including providing a concise description of the products/services offered.
“Potential customers and clients are also becoming fast scrollers, so if your website, Facebook, Instagram presence isn’t easy to navigate they might skip your business and move onto another,” Ms Buchanan said.
“If you haven’t had the opportunity to either establish or review and improve your online business media, there are lots of affordable professionals out there who can also assist.
“As a business, having an effective online marketing and promotional presence can provide significant increases to your customer/client base.
“RDAYMN is also available for free and confidential business assistance.”
The social media workshop was the second business workshop held by Yorke Peninsula Council, RDAYMN and YP Tourism this year, following on from a grants-focused event in April.
Yorke Peninsula Council also offers a variety of other business support through its Business Enhancement Program, which includes business grants.
