Yorke Peninsula Council is excited to announce YorKON Games Convention is returning for the 5th fun-filled event these April school holidays.
Due to the growing popularity of computer gaming and the need for social connection activities on the Yorke Peninsula, the inaugural YorKON came to life in 2018. The event was so popular, the Yorke Peninsula Council brought YorKON back, bigger and better in 2019.
With a small break in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19, YorKON successfully returned in 2022 and 2023 with record crowds. YorKON 2024 marks the event’s 5th milestone.
Become the hero, or villain, of your own adventure at YorKON 2024! This free event, to be held at the Maitland Town Hall on Saturday, 20 April from 11am-7pm and Sunday, 21 April from 10am-3pm, provides the local community, especially young people and their families, with the unique opportunity to engage in a fun and social games event.
The two-day convention includes free play computer, retro games, arcade games, workshops, table top games, life size interactive games and a costume competition. Due to its popularity at the 2023 event, the self-guided, interactive adventure activity is also returning, with participants going into the draw to win a prize.
Attendees are encouraged to get into the spirit by dressing up, with a Best Costume Prize winner announced each day at 2pm. Will you be a hero or a villain or both?
To add even more excitement, attendees can enter a competition to win a signed framed exhibition quality print of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny by Mark Raats.
YorKON Games Convention is for all ages, with the exception of a secure 15+ session (content rated as PG and M classifications), held on both days.
This fantastic event is made possible by our partners, including Team AvCon, Copper Coast Table Top Gamers, Retrospekt, Maitland and District Progress Association, Southern Dewback Garrison – 501st Legion, Cold Creature Art, SYP Community Hub, Ben’s IT Communications and Little Adventurers.
